INTRODUCTION

  1. Life-Prints™ Child Identification and Emergency Communication Software stores password protected child identification electronic data including descriptive information (name, address, height, weight, etc.), photograph and forensic quality digital fingerprints.
  2. The Child ID files are generic in format and are compatible with most operating systems.
  3. The electronic data is designed to facilitate law enforcement’s acquisition of critical identification data using your standard departmental procedures.
  4. Use of Child ID data requires no additional software on your department’s computers.

ACQUIRING CHILD DATA FILES FROM PARENT

  1. Parents can email you child ID data after pressing the “Emergency Transmit Button” from their Life-Prints™ Flashdrive. If so you will receive a file called “CHILDINFO or CHILDINFO.ZIP”. The parent may have already sent the file to the email address they listed in their profile, but they can send it again to any email address if you give it too them.

    - OR -

  2. Parents can hand you a Flashdrive or any form of memory device (CD, Disk, Memory Card). If you can read the memory device on your computer or PDA - you must obtain the password from the parent in order to access the child’s profile. The memory device will have a readme with instructions and file descriptions for use as well.

  3. Parents can print out and fax child ID data to your department.

    PLEASE CALL THE LIFE-PRINTS HELPDESK at 1-866 -244- 5504. IF YOU HAVE ANY TROUBLE FINDING THE CHILDINFO or CHILDINFO.ZIP FILE, EXTRACTING THE CHILD’S IDENTIFICATION FILES, OR USING THE RELEVANT DATA FILE.

USING THE CHILD DATA FILES

When the Childifo.zip file is unzipped a set of files are extracted. These files which contain the photographs, descriptions, and digital fingerprints of the child, are described below.

  1. Click on the CHILDINFO file. This will display the following files for your use.
  2. Profile.html
    1. Click on this file to display the child’s identification and descriptive data in your computer’s browser.
    2. This information can be printed, copied and noted in writing OR copied using “cut and paste” as you are documenting the case.
    3. If you are a user of a computer based bulletin system such as Critical Reach or MCAS, data can be entered directly into your system either manually or copied using “cut and paste.”
  3. Face.jpg
    1. Click on this file to display a digital picture of the child.
    2. This file can be printed OR copied using “cut and paste” into almost any system including bulletin systems. It can also be downloaded to PDA devices.
    3. If you are a user of a computer based bulletin system such as Critical Reach or MCAS, data can be entered directly into your system using “cut and paste.”
  4. lastname_firstname_mi.eft
    1. Click on this file to display all descriptive data plus digital fingerprints.
    2. This is the AFIS format file that is natively compatible with all law enforcement AFIS systems.
    3. The locations of AFIS systems varies depending on the law enforcement agencies involved. These systems are in use by the FBI as well as local law enforcement agencies.
  5. Other *.jpg files –
    1. Click on this file to display all descriptive data plus digital fingerprints.
    2. This is the AFIS format file that is natively compatible with all law enforcement AFIS systems.
